This weekend,
the 3rd men's team of Türkiyemspor is hosting a nationwide football tournament at
the Blücherstrasse field in Kreuzberg. 24 teams from all over the republic are
expected. But the football that is played will take second place to the more
important matter at hand. The event aims to bring together teams whose members
are mostly refugees from Afghanistan under the motto, Peace and Friendship.
The 3rd men
of Türkiyemspor have been playing for two years in the blue and white jerseys. Led
by Mohammad Mohammadi, the group plays in Kreis Class B. This weekend holds a
special place in their hearts. Mostly made up of refugees from Afghanistan, the
team is the organizer of what is probably the largest tournament for teams with
an Afghan background in the Federal Republic. 24 teams from across the country have
been invited. They will face each other on the Blücherplatz on March 31st and
April 1st.
So come visit
us this weekend for a good day of football, and even better, come support a
community looking to find their way in the Federal Rebuplic. Admission is free.
